Leveling a Druid

Posted on 2010-02-11

When you are interested in playing a class that can shapeshift as well as heal or deal out damage on a truly impressive level, you are going to be interested in playing a druid. When you are looking up the class on a WoW leveling guide, you will often be told that this is a rewarding class to play and that it is one of the easier choices when it comes to leveling. How can you easily level a druid and get your toon to the end game?

In the first place, take a look at your talent tree spec. When you want to level a druid, most people agree tat starting out in the Feral tree is the best way to go. If you are soloing, you will find that the Feral talent tree will give you the least amount of downtime. After level 40, the Balance tee does have its benefits, but over all, both Balance and Restoration will lose out to Feral when it comes to leveling.

One of the big advantages that Druids have when they are being leveled is they are perfect for both parties and for soloing. For instance, if you are soloing and you need to heal yourself quickly, use Barkskin so you will not be interrupted as you cast. You can also use Nature's Grasp to pin the mob down when you want to cast. Remember that as a druid, you have several heal over time spells that you can cast on yourself that will make surviving a tough mob much easier.

As a druid, certain professions are also going to make leveling easier on you. When you take skinning and mining, you will be adding some impressive buffs to your maximum hit points as well as to your ability to land critical strikes. However, some druids do not enjoy making armor that they cannot wear, and this is where taking herbalism can help; herbalism adds another heal over time to your arsenal, and it will also help you make money on the auction house.

If you are planning to level your druid in a group, consider how you are going to need to help your party. Your entire party should always have Gift of the Wild on it, and your tank should have Thorns cast on him at all times. As a druid, you can off tank and off-heal even if you are primarily specced for damage, so make sure that you are ready to do so when the party gets into a pinch.

Any WoW leveling guide will tell you that leveling a druid is a great way to go, so why not consider how to get yours to eighty and fast? Whether you want to heal, to deal damage or even to tank, there is likely a place for you in any party!

Healing With a Paladin

Posted on 2010-02-08

We have all heard about how paladins can do anything World of Warcraft, but though an Alliance leveling guide tell you a lot about how to use a paladin to tank or to deal out damage, you should also remember that paladins are great healers as well. How can you get the most healing ability out of your paladin whether you are in a PvP or PvE situation?

First, get familiar with your two direct healing spells. Flash of Light and Holy Light are likely the two that you are going to be using when you are looking at healing others. Flash of Light is more mana efficient, but you will find that Holy Light is much better when it comes to speed. Use this to strategically heal your party. Holy Light is perfect when you want to get someone out of a tight spot, but if you are looking to heal someone efficiently, use Flash of Light.

Don't forget that as a paladin, you are also going to have some advantages when it comes to Blessings. Blessing of Light, when you get to the highest rank, is going to add an impressive 400 health to your Holy Light Spell and and 115 health to your Flash of Light spell. While you are grinding your way to 80, this does not show up all at once, but remember that it can make a difference.

Don't be afraid to defend yourself. One of the first things that a paladin is likely to figure out is how versatile the class itself is. Paladins are by far the most durable of the healing classes, and this is because they are able to wear plate armor and to defend themselves. While you should definitely look for gear that will increase your spell casting and your mana pool, also remember that you should look for gear that will allow you to take damage as well.

Remember that good healing as a paladin also means looking into how you can make the most out of your talent trees. There are plenty of talent trees out there for Holy paladins, but you want to pay special attention to Illumination, Divine Favor and Holy Power. You will find that this can make your healing more effective over time and Illumination will help you increase your healing by helping you return the mana that you spent.

Healing as a paladin definitely has some advantages, and while the class itself is not completely geared for healing the way that a priest is, a paladin can still act as a primary healer for a group. When you are thinking about leveling a paladin, make sure that you have a good alliance leveling guide at your side and that you consider how healing might suit you!

Understanding Quests in World of Warcraft

Posted on 2010-02-04

When you first get started with World of Warcraft, you will quickly learn that non player characters (NPCs) with large yellow question marks over their heads have quests for you to complete. These tasks will ask you to do a variety of different things and in return, you will get experience points and rewards that allow you to level faster. It seems fairly simple, but it is important to remember that just like there are many ways to level in WoW, there are also many different types of quest as well!

The most common type of quest by far is going to be the quests that ask you to kill something. You may finish this quest by simply killing the requisite number of things in question, or it might be related to things that these mobs drop. You may also be asked to kill a specific named mob, which is usually a little tougher. This type of quest meshes quite well with grinding.

Delivery quests, on the other hand, will ask you to travel from place to place. These quests are particularly common in the early levels, as they will take you from zone to zone. You are usually given a package or a message and then given directions. Sometimes it is within the same zone, but they can be on a different continent, and in the case of Outland, it will be on a different world.

Timed quests have a limitation on how long you can take to do it. There is usually plenty of time for the quest, but remember that if you take a timed quest, it should be your top priority. Timed quests are often also timed with delivery quests.

Escort quests ask you to help a friendly NPC get from enemy territory to a safer place. You will often encounter an escort quest when you are in an area on another quest, so make sure that you finish that quest before you take the escort quest; an escort quest will usually take you away from the area that you are currently in. Escort quests are often easiest to do if you have some help, as it will almost certainly involve fighting multiple mobs at a time.

The holiday quests are quests that can only be taken during a certain point in the year. Winterveil and Hallows End are two examples of this, and they can give you a great deal of experience for only a small amount of effort. These quests are often “sillier” and may involve things like trick or treating, or emoting at a certain NPC.

When you are thinking about questing and how they can affect your enjoyment of the game, consider how a quest leveling guide can help you achieve your goals!

Leveling Fast in WoW

Posted on 2010-02-01

When you first get started in World of Warcraft, it can feel like you are leveling fast. After all, you can usually get from level one to level ten in the space of a few hours, and it can be easy to think that the rest of the game is going to be like that. The truth of the matter is that getting to eighty can be a real challenge, and if you want to get there sometime before the next expansion hits, there are some tips that are going to be helpful to you. These tips can be used for any character, so just remember them the next time you log in.

First, remember that you do not need to take any professions when you start leveling. The trainers are there, but leveling a profession can be just as time consuming as leveling in general! While there are definitely professions that can help you move along, they will tend to take up more time than they are worth, and the bonuses don't kick in until you have spent some time with them.

One exception to this rule might be skinning. Skinning is the gathering profession that does not require extra time spent running all over the map; you can simply skin the mobs that you are killing off. While you can combine this with leatherworking and put together some great sets of armor, in the interests of speed, you should just sell it.

When you want to level fast, you are going to need gold to level. Gold will let you buy better gear, and it will also keep you on top of the training that you need. No matter what you pick up, make sure that you sell it. Larger bags are a good investment to make. Use the add on Auctioneer to keep your transactions straightforward and make sure that collect your money from your mailbox.

Another thing that can keep you leveling fast is going to be finishing off areas completely. There are a few different conflicting philosophies about this, but if you finish an zone completely, you are going to be ready for the next one. Each level takes more experience to beat than the one before it, and this becomes more and more important the further you go.

By finishing each of the different zones completely, you are going to be able to be prepared for the next one. Being prepared for the next zone is going to be important the further into the game you go, and while killing mobs that are better equipped than you are gives you more experience points, it can also slow things down to a crawl.

You should also decide how you feel about getting other people to help you. Grouping lets you take care of quests faster, but you will also find that it going split up your experience points as well. Dungeons offer a fair amount of experience, but do require a large group. If you have any friends who have higher level characters, you will discover that they can take you through tougher instances as well.

If you want to level fast, you need a fast leveling guide. Consider how fast you want to go and what kind of path is going to suit you best!

Starting Your Shaman on World of Warcraft

Posted on 2010-01-28

World of Warcraft is a game that has many roles, and when you are curious about them, but only want to commit to one character at the moment, you may wish to consider playing a shaman! A shaman is a hybrid class that will allow you to take on healing, damage dealing or tanking, and when it comes to secondary support roles, a shaman can be great for a party. This versatility can get you a place in many raid groups, so how can you go about getting your shaman to where they need to be?

When you want to level your shaman, consider some of the weaknesses that you are dealing with. For instance, your totems are the mainstay of your power, but they are fairly easy to destroy. Similarly, you are highly dependent on mana, and you have no long duration party buffs. Another thing that might hold you back is that when it comes to tanking, you are not going to be able to wear plate armor, which puts you behind paladins and warriors.

These issues are rough to deal with, but they are far from impossible, so take some time and consider what your advantages are going to be. In a party setting, you will be able to resurrect other toons and when you set up your totems, it can give your party some impressive buffs. Similarly, you have instant cast damage spells, which will at least make you fast at putting out damage, even if you are not going to top the damage charts.

When you want to start playing a shaman, set down your searing totem as soon as you enter combat. You can then use your lightning bolt to pull the mob. This is integral during a group fight and this is going to help you start doing damage right out of the gate.

How you begin as a shaman is quite important. For instance, earth shock will stop casters from casting at your or healing, and this can be a great way to incapacitate them. Similarly, if you are simply soloing mobs, consider starting off with lightening shield.

One thing that a shaman can do with a fair amount of facility is going to be crowd control. Use your earthbind totem to keep your mob from running off. If you are fighting in a packed place and you don't want mobs descending on you, this is something important to remember.

Consider picking up the skinning and leatherworking professions. Not only are you going to be able to make armor that you can wear, you will also be able to pick up the bonus, Master of Anatomy, which gives you more critical hits.
