Soloing With An Alliance Warlock
Posted on 2009-10-05
When you are tired of groups and when you want to try something a little different, why not think about rolling up a Warlock? On the Alliance side, Humans and Gnomes can play Warlocks, and while these wielders of dark magic are often known to be great damage dealers, it is also worth looking into the fact that they are perfect for soloing as well. When you are interested in playing a character that can take on just about anything solo, a Warlock is one of your best bets. Check out these tips for playing a solo warlock, and you will find that you are going to start progressing very quickly!
Use Your Pets Wisely
In the very early levels, you are going to get your imp, and while he can be handy because you can summon him with no Soul Shard, you will find that the pet you want for soloing is likely going to be your voidwalker. The voidwalker generates a fair amount of threat, and it has the best armor rating and you will discover that you are going to be able to use it as your tank. It's going to soak up the damage while you pie on your Damage Over Time spells.
Be Patient
When you are playing a warlock solo, there is a better than average chance that you have decided to put most of your Talent points into the Affliction tree. The Affliction tree allows you to do a lot of damage, but it takes a while. Immolate will let you drop a lot of damage, but it is done over a full 15 seconds; this means that you need to stay alive to let the spell work! Send in your pet and then start piling on the damage. It might take you a while to kill the mobs, but even wearing cloth armor, you will find that your survivability is going to be relatively high.
Consider Alchemy
One of the drawbacks of being a Warlock is that you are not going to have any innate ability to heal. Most people believe that that takes them out of the solo game, but nothing could be further from the truth. Alchemy can help you level the playing field a fair amount. Not only are you going to be able to learn to make healing potions and mana potions, you will also find that the bonus of Lifeblood, which you pick up through the associated profession Herbalism, can give you a heal over time that is fairly effective in a pinch.
Consider a WoW Guide
Anyone who plays WoW knows that they are dealing with an enormous amount of material and this is where a good WoW guide can come in. Finding the right guide can mean the difference between leveling in weeks instead of leveling in months, so make sure that you look into what this resource can do for you!
